Viscar Industrial Capacity Limited, a training, consulting and resourcing firm for Engineering and Technology Solutions, has this month completed its first Engineering Managed Service (EMS) project, barely six months after it launched the EMS program.
Engineering Managed Services (EMS) is the strategic approach to improve operations and reduce expenses by outsourcing engineering day-to-day functions and management activities.
Viscar launched EMS in October, 2019 after realizing how organizations had been adversely affected due to the current economic meltdown that continues to grow the cost of living meaning salary adjustments must be made upwards, yet sales margins continue shrinking, driven by such factors as competition, technology and customer demands.
“We developed EMS with a view of lessening organization’s burden from payroll hence making the business more sustainable and profitable. Through our expertly assembled and equipped resources, processes and engagement model, we ensure that you only pay for the output that matters to your business.” Eng. David Mulongo, Managing Director, Viscar Industrial Capacity.
“Tropikal Brands, a Kenyan leading manufacturer of household, personal care, food and baby products and distributor of quality multinational brands, which has been in the market for more than 20 years, was our first EMS client, who approached us in November 2019, having heard about our EMS program.”
Tropikal uses different packaging machines for their various products, one of them is the Matrix packaging machine, a form fill seal packaging equipment suitable for both liquid and non-liquid applications that produces a precise and dependable seal, when packaging their products.
The Matrix packaging machine had been idle since April, 2019, due to a faulty controller. After contacting various technicians, they were unable to solve the issue. They ended up causing a lot of interference in the control system of the machine. The machine was not operational for some time.
The client therefore urgently required the help of Viscar’s expertise to permanently resolve the issue by reviving the machine in order to boost production and meet the company’s demand, in turn increasing efficiency and productivity
After Viscar’s team diagnosed the machine, they discussed with the client and developed a contract, based on the deliverables, SLA and the ideal engagement model. After signing the contract, they commenced the project on 18th November, 2019.
The team was able to re-design, program and install controls for the machine as well as recommission it. After four months, we succeeded in reviving the machine and also almost double its capacity from 3000 cans per 8 hour shift to around 5000 over the same period. Some of the tasks performed on the machine included; controller design and simulation, controller installation, on-machine test and debugging, machine calibration and timing scheduling, drive circuits wiring, pneumatics circuits wiring and testing, final machine testing, in-production running and performance testing, operator training and final production testing.
“I am very pleased with Viscar’s work for the great job they did. They demonstrated a high level of professionalism throughout the project period. They surpassed my expectations by not only resolving the issue with our Matrix packaging machine, but also doubling the capacity of the machine.” Mrs. Lily, Production Manager, Tropikal Brands
This project gave Viscar more confidence to not only get more organizations on board but also train more technicians on our different areas of concentration in order to hire them on a need to need basis whenever a client needs the Engineering Managed Services.
Viscar offers fully managed service and trainings in; HVAC maintenance, Occupational Safety and Health, Energy Management, Project Management, Industrial Automation, Machine Maintenance, Engineering Design, Network Operation center, Data analysis, Software Development, Cyber Security, IT System Audit Solutions.
