About the course:
This course combines theory and hands-on activities. The course also introduces the participant to industry standards governing outside plant and premises fiber networks. This fiber optic Technician training program gives candidates a strong grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to understand how fiber optic networks function and to recognize and identify problems when they’re not working correctly. Upon successful completion, this certification is recognized by many organizations, customers, and installers all over the world.
Topics to be covered:
a.FTTx installation, testing, network turn-up and troubleshooting
b.Cable preparation – Demonstration of loose tube cable sheath removal and fiber access
c.Testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems, different FTTX architectures
d.Standardized PON network types including future developments
e.Causes of faults in fiber networks, maintenance techniques, and Project Management
Practical will entail:
1. Cable preparation – Demonstration of loose tube cable sheath removal and fiber access
2. Testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems
3. Practicals on different equipment use: OTDR, Splicing Machine, Optical power meter, Fiber analyzers
