Training Modules

Programmable Logic Controllers

Module 1: Programmable Logic Controllers

This training course focuses on the concept of hardware and software together with a practical Hands-on introduction to uses, hardware configuration, uploading /down loading program and fault finding.

On completion, learners will be able to:
1.Understand and create complex program structures
2.Make changes and additions to programs developed by others.
3.Implement modes such as automatic, manual and emergency stop.
4.Combine various modules of structured programs.
5.Create, read out and change hardware configurations.
6.Find errors in complex programs quickly and efficiently
7.Establish reasons for machine stoppages with the aid of the PLC program.
8.Create and commission PLC programs with logic associations and sequences.

Module 2:SCADA Systems

SCADA training is an advancement of PLC training where the student is trained on how to incorporate his knowledge of PLC’s and basic automation to build, maintain and troubleshoot large scale computer systems for monitoring conditions in a plant, factory or process.

On completion, learners will be able to:
1.Understand and SCADA systems overview.
2.Make PLC based SCADA programs.
3.Create SCADA graphics similar to production lines.
4.Operate and maintain SCADA systems.

Variable Frequency Drives

Module 3:Variable Frequency Drives

A comprehensive hands-on training on introduction to installation, programming, maintenance and troubleshooting techniques of variable speed drives.

On completion, learners will be able to:
1.Acquire energy saving skills through proper drive utilization.
2.Improve profitability by extending the life of your drives by learning proper installation and maintenance.
3.Reduce downtime by troubleshooting and fault handling.

Module 4:Hydraulic and Electro-hydraulics drives

This course introduces the physical dynamics and properties of incompressible fluids and the practical application of fluid power principles involving pressure, flow and force to the hydraulic systems found at industrial worksites. It covers fundamental hydraulic schematics and circuits and the function of components including pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, reservoirs, actuators, fluid conductors, and valves. Introduces hydraulic instrumentation, specialized tools, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

On completion, learners will be able to:
1.Apply safe working practices when working with hydraulic systems
2.Understand the principle of operation of hydraulic systems and components typically used in industry
3.Acquire troubleshooting and maintenance skills for hydraulic systems
4.Design, read and interpret hydraulic circuits
5.Use hydraulic circuit drawings and fault-finding charts as a systematic aid to fault-finding
6.Assess the condition of a hydraulic system by oil analysis
7.Understand design, operation and application of various solenoid valves used in electro-hydraulic control systems
8.Understand the design and mode of operation and selection of various electrical components such as pushbuttons, limits witches and control switches, pressure switches, operation of relays and contactors
9.Select and use electrical and hydraulic components in circuits
10.Understand design and mode of operation of pressure switches
11.Know ways of sensing cylinder positions in a circuit
12.Maintain electro-hydraulic control systems.

Pneumatics and Electro-pnematics systems

Module 5:Pneumatics and Electro-pnematics systems

This hands-on training introduces the principles of the pneumatic systems and applications in the found in Industry. It covers fundamental pneumatic schematics and circuits and the function of components including compressors, valves, pneumatic cylinders/actuators, air motors, receivers, heat exchangers, dryers, piping and tubing. Additionally, participants are introduced to electro-pneumatic control systems such as Electrical Control Module with relay control components, Electrical Valve Module with solenoid operated pneumatic directional control valves and electrical / electronic sensors, lead set among other more. Introduces specialized tools, troubleshooting, and maintenance of pneumatics and electro-pneumatics control.

On completion, learners will be able to:
1.Demonstrate understanding of pneumatic systems fundamental principles
2.Identify, inspect, adjust and replace: Sensors (pneumatic valves and electrical switches, proximity sensors and switches), Valves (air and solenoid operated, sequence, directional control), Actuators (cylinders and rotary)
3.understand AND / OR elements, relays, timers, flow controls and quick exhausts
4.Use visual indicators and manual overrides to check operation of components
5.Carry out repairs to pneumatic systems, replace fittings, plastic pipe-work.
6.Use pneumatic circuit drawings as an aid to systematic fault-finding
7.Understand how PLCs are interfaced and used to control pneumatic systems

Module 6:Electronic Troubleshooting

This hands-on training is designed to provide hands-on instruction in electronic circuit troubleshooting. It is designed for all mechanical and electrical engineers to develop vital troubleshooting skills necessary for maintenance and repair of electronic controls. You will be valuable to any organization with production machinery with aging control circuitry requiring special care to extend its life, or when placed in a responsibility to find and correct control faults.

On completion, learners will be able to;
1.Quickly and systematically diagnose problems occurring within the organization’s equipment.
2.Become a valuable in-house repair and maintenance technician/engineer hence reduced downtime on organization’s equipment, 80% of equipment fault will be dealt with in-house and tremendous reduction in costs related to repairs
3.Venture into their own industrial electronics repair and maintenance business

Module 7:Life skills

For Engineers to reach their optimal potential it’s critical they learn and develop life skills. To grow the training will focus on areas such as leadership, emotional intelligence and effective communication, as well as skills for developing healthy relationships and a positive self-concepts
