EGDP is Viscar’s flagship solution initiated in 2009 and has seen over 500 enrollments since then majority of whom are working with prestigious employers i.e Safaricom, KCAA, Liquid Telecom. The program has also produced successful entrepreneurs mostly in the energy efficiency space. The program was designed to bridge the glaring gaps between the knowledge fresh graduates possess and the skills demanded by the industry.  The trainees are taken through practical skills training in various disciplines, the classes are facilitated by experts practicing in industry hence real-time skills and knowledge transfer. The resultant effect is fresh graduates with enhanced employability, short learning curve on employment thus fast-tracked productivity and boosted earning potential. The program targets fresh Engineering graduates, ICT and diploma and degree graduates.

The training is delivered by consultants who have vast knowledge and experience in the industry and are well updated to the current trends. EGDP provides a holistic curriculum that combines both technical expertise and practical life skills ensuring participants graduate with the qualities required for success in the workplace and as entrepreneurs. 

“The Viscar EGDP program is a class by itself in the region that bridges the gap between Engineering and ICT academic qualifications and industry expectations. The program was initiated in 2009 and so far it has seen 210 trainees successfully complete the program and are currently working in various organizations.

The program consists of 3 months of classroom training coupled with industrial visits and 3 months of internship. The program has been designed to cover various the below areas:

  2. Smart Cities 
  3. Introduction to Telecommunication Systems Engineering.
  4. Introduction to Engineering Plant Management.
  5. Information Technology and Business
  6. Introduction to Broadcasting Systems Technology
  7.  Energy and Power Systems
  8. Building Electrical and Mechanical Systems
  9. Introduction to Building and Construction Systems

Programs Currently Running :

1. Smart Cities :

Our Smart Cities eGDP program first cohort is currently ongoing, having been launched in April, 2022. This is in line with the Viscar Industrial Capacity mission to upskill new graduates with job relevant skills. With our involvement in the Konza Smart City project, we started the program with the objective of developing the skills in the emerging technologies that are typically part of a smart city deployment.

The goal of the program is to transfer foundational knowledge on the different technologies, systems and operations of a smart city network. In this regard, the program covered the following learning areas-:

The Class has participation from a broad range of graduates ranging from Electrical Engineering to Computer Science. As part of the program, the students are due to be provided industrial internships at Viscar Industrial Capacity Ltd and Konza Technopolis Development Authority, which is the government agency operating the 1st large scale Smart City in the region.

Our Latest Industrial visit was at  Haco Industries Kenya Limited which is a Kenyan personal and home care products manufacturer where we explored their various systems
